First Asian Futsal Championship for players with mental health issues
Asian Football Tournament for Persons with Mental Health Disorders will be held in Japan
Japan Football Association (JFA), Japan Inclusive Football Federation (JIFF), and Japan Social Football Association (JSFA) cooperate with the support of the AFC Dream Asia Foundation. A symposium aimed at the development of the system in the Asian region and the development and cooperation of sports for players with mental health issues.
JIFF is pleased to announce that the Japan Social Football Association, one of the seven football games for persons with disabilities, will hold the "1st Dream Asia Cup for Persons with Mental Health Issues Football Asia Tournament" at the Ohama Gymnasium (Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture) for five days from Tuesday, January 14th to Saturday, January 18th, 2025.
JIFF and JSFA have collaborated with JFA to achieve this tournament, and it has been decided that the first international football tournament for persons with disabilities will be held in Japan with a grant from the AFC Dream Asia Foundation (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia).
In addition to the first Asian Games, on January 17th (Friday), there will be an "International Sports Symposium for Persons with Mental Health Issues" held by participating countries and sports officials in the Asia and Oceania region, on January 16th (Thursday), a "Symposium on Mental Health Support" for Persons With Mental Health Issues, supporters, business officials, and psychiatrists (scheduled), and a sports program for children with developmental and mental disabilities, "Sports Classroom for Children with Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities" in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture.
We aim to solve mental health problems and accelerate symbiotic societies through football for persons with mental disabilities, promoting the use of football as a support tool for mental health recovery.
JIFF will continue to work with various associations, federations, etc. so that seven international soccer tournaments for people with disabilities can be held in Japan, and we will also work towards developing a system in the Asian region.
